This daylilly was named for the former (retired 2001) horticulturist of the city of Raleigh. During his tenure with the city, Noel Weston was instrumental in working with the National Hemerocallis society to create nationally recognized display gardens. Johnny Shooter, a hybridizer in Marietta, NC named this flower for Noel Weston.
