This plant is actually a Macropidia fuliginosa which is a close relative to Anigozanthos. However it is being sold in California as an Anigozanthos variety, Anigozanthos 'Bush Eclipse' or Anigozanthos fuliginosa 'Bush Eclipse.' Grows best in a container not in the ground where it dies easily. Make sure you do not over fertilize it and never give it one with phosphates. It lives only a few years but produces many cutting quality stems of interesting black and green flowers which is used by the florist industry.
