I have not grown this plant or any other protea -- and the naturally high phosphate in the soil here might doom any efforts. But supposedly P. subvestita can tolerate zone 6 cold according to at least one source, the seed is best sown in Spring, and the plant is adapted to wet summers and can tolerate humidity. Definitely on my list of plants to try.
