Laxton's Superb is a classic English-style variety from the late Victorian period, Laxton Brothers were important breeders at this time and this was probably their most important variety. Essentially a Cox-style apple, but with an interesting twist in flavour inherited from its other parent, which is Wyken Pippin.
The colour is dull red flush over green.
The white-green flesh is quite dense and sweet, and very "appley". The texture is firm rather than crisp.

Eat the fruit November-January

An old fashioned apple and one of my childhood favourites from my grandfathers tree. Superb by name, superb by nature!

I finally found one to plant in my own garden!!!!!
