The plant to blame for my Calathea addiction. Survived the Central Florida freezes this past winter(mids 20's) in an open unprotected lightly shaded area without mulch or supplemental water in sandy soil. They die down each December and pop back up in early summer at the same time as the zingibers and hedychiums. The flowers have a light sweet scent and I look forward each spring to getting down on the ground and shoving my face into the 6" plants for a whiff. Less prone to leaf spotting and less fussy about water than other calatheas.
