This plant is considered critically endangered. It is believed that a population of only around 50 plants exists. Up to this point there is no regeneration seen although these plants are observed flowering and fruiting. It has not yet been brought into cultivation and this is the only way some feel it will be saved from extinction. It is native to Mauritius.
