According to Robert Nold (Penstemons), Penstemon 'Pink Holly' is a hybrid of species within the Dasanthera subgenus. It is the result of a cross between 'White Knight' and [((Penstemon davidsonii x P. fruticosus) x P. rupicola) x P. rupicola 'Albus']. (A small number of other penstemon cultivars resulted from this complex cross.)
