This perennial kale 'd' Aubenton aka 'Daubenton' is a perennial leaf version of brassicas. You can cut its juicy leaves whole year for culinary uses. It is a non flowering plant that spreads by shoots and is propagated by cuttings. This kale was common grown already in medieval times, but nowadays a little forgotten. It can get old.. fourty years is possible. Its name 'd'Aubenton' (or simply Daubenton) means literally 'from Aubenton'. Aubenton is a commune in the department of Aisne in Picardie in northern France.
