South African amaryllis (Hadeco) hybrids are among the most breathtaking amaryllis available. These cultivars have been bred to grow rapidly for pot culture with an emphasis on shorter, stouter stems which give them good proportional balance between size of pot and bloom. Having said that, mine are planted inground. I don't think it will make any difference, just a smaller cultivar among my other yellows planted in the same area.
