The colors of 'Heavy Metal' are the most vivid colors in the world of exotic hibiscus. In cooler weather 6-8" flowers are a neon magenta and fuschia with a tangerine edge. In summer heat, the edge turns bright yellow and grows in size, and the body of the flower is vivid red with a magenta halo around the dark burgundy eye. In the hottest heat, the flowers develop bright yellow and white spots. The flowers are crisp with a heavy texture, and last for 2-3 days. The bush is very upright but stays in the medium-small range, growing up to about 4'. 'Heavy Metal' is the offspring of 'Rainbow Christie' and 'Fifth Dimension.' Released from HVH in 2004.
