I grew 10 plants from seeds last summer and planted them then. They didn't do great the first year, but this spring they all took off right away and by May 15, at least, I had blooms on all of them. They are doing great now and I would recommend starting them from seed, as it was very easy, and starting them indoors 2 months before the last frost. They are great and look adorable. Just don't expect too much the first year. Also, they are in heavy clay and don't seem to mind at all.
