Spreads quickly by underground rhizomes and forms tubers. This is too aggressive for the rock garden, and can be very invasive in the border.

Pink flowers to 1". Leaves are basal, attractively mottled in two tones of green.

Native to screes in southwestern China. Needs sharp drainage and consistent moisture in part shade. Does not like it hot and dry.
