The Ilam azaleas are hybrids developed in New Zealand from crosses between R. molle, R. calendulaceum, and R. viscosum. Not to be confused with two evergreen hybrids (a Belgian Indian and a Kaempferi) called 'Carmen.' They are upright, deciduous shrubs which flower from early to late spring.
