Evergreen perennial from New Zealand.

Has stiff, upright, thin, shiny, pointed, reddish leaves in tufts. Bears spikes of dark brown flowers.

Flowers July - September

Likes a well drained, moist soil in full sun or light shade. It is not fully hardy and will stand a low of 14F for very short periods.

Young plants will be chewed by slugs but unless there is nothing else available they are usually left alone.
