| Positive | Grasmussen | On Nov 2, 2006, Grasmussen from Anchorage, AK (Zone 4a) wrote: Polemonium pulcherrimum, Beautiful Jacob's Ladder, is a perennial native wildflower, often cultivated, in Anchorage, Alaska. In cultivation, mature plants form rounded clumps, covered with hundreds of flowers. They provide a welcome burst of color, to the early spring garden. Flowers have five blue-violet petals with yellow centers. A very similar plant, Polemonium acutiflorum, Tall Jacob's Ladder, has similar flowers with white centers. Beautiful Jacob's Ladder are easy to grow, and will tolerate a wide range of conditions. They are a desirable addition to any perennial flower bed or rock garden. | | Neutral | Weezingreens | On Feb 14, 2002, Weezingreens from Seward, AK (Zone 3b) wrote: Tap-rooted perennial with several erect sprawling stems from branched, thickened stem bases. Leaves mostly basal with ladder-like leaflets. Bell-shaped flowers are light blue, occasionally white, with yellow centers, growing in clusters. This hardy wildflower is native to the Northwest States, Alaska, and Canada in arid situations from sea level to 5,000 ft. It self-seeds readily. Attractive to honey bees.
