I grew the Burgess Collossal in the 50's and 60's. They are similar enough to their Ponderosa counter parts to be improved Ponderosa's. They are smoother than the Ponderosa's and may be an ounce or so larger. Same open type vine that is short enough to grow using the sprawl method. They come in four colors; a dark pink, a bright red, a deep yellow and a light yellow. Like the Ponderosa, the dark pink (purple) is the most prone to monster shapes and catfacing.
