CHERRY SMOKE: (D. Meek, R. 1977). Sdlg. 51-3-9. TB 34" (86 cm) M-L. "S. deep red-black; F. same, heavily ruffled; bronze beard tipped violet. Montego Bay X Dark Valley., D & J Gardens 1978." The foregoing description is provided by the American Iris Society. I like this iris a lot, however it is a slow grower with even slower increase. I don't like to be critical of an iris but that is the only fault I find with it. All the rest is positive: Blooms, color and appearance are all very good. Grows to only about 30" here, but overall a good garden plant.
