An amazingly tolorent cactus from South America. Readily self-sows in its own pot. Even tolorates the two month rainy season (June-July) here in Tokyo - and this is a desert cactus, not a tropical!

And the flower... so elegant, almost to the point of decadence (but perhaps that's too anthropomorphic an evaluation for such a sweet little cactus ;-)
