We planted this variety in sandy soil in a full sun garden in Coldspring Texas in late March 2006. With only moderate watering and weeding the plants exploded with growth, quickly passing the size of Purple Hull Peas, Knuckle Hull Purple Hulls and Mississippi Reds. First time we have ever grown them and they are our best pea this year.

Pods turn to bright green and when picked at this stage the peas are light pink, soft and ready to eat or freeze. When left on the vine they will dry to yellow with the dried pea becoming a dark maroon.

Blossoms are bright purple.
