Charming little wildflower that is native to southern Canada and northern United State. It prefers a moist woodland soil in dappled shade but it will tolerate sun if plants are kept cool and given adequate moisture. Flowers are 3/4 - 1 inch wide and white with yellow at the base of the petals and pink on their back sides. It spreads by both rhizomes and seeds and will spread to make a large patch once established. The Canada violet is quite tall for a violet with attractive heart shaped foliage and purplish stalks.
