This is a Habranthes cardinalis synonym name. Habranthes species' rain lilies open at nigfht and Zephyranthes species' rain lilies open in the morning to mid-day. There are also other notable differences between the two species.

Can apparently have white, reddish, pinkish, vermilion or dusky pink flowers. Orange forms are known and if crossed with red these yield either salmon or pink hybrids unlike either parent. Petals can be wide or narrow, flat or channelled. Possibly hybrid or possibly more than one species involved here. There is some debate as to whether it is really a Zephyranthes.
