I have not grown this plant. Small's rain lily is on the Critically Endangered species list. It is a native rain lily that can be found in its native habitat in the southern most county of Texas (Cameron County). It grows up to 2 dm tall. The fragrant bright lemon-yellow blooms open in the afternoon and fade to ivory-yellow overnight. Small's rain lily is the only rain lily of this color known in this genus. The plants bloom from mid-summer through autumn. It would be a great addition to the cultivated garden and would be useful in beds, lawns, rock gardens, xeriscapes and containers.

Zephyrantes is fairly tender to severe winter conditions. It is only hardy in U.S. zones 9-11. Bulbs should be planted at a depth where the "neck" is just under the soil line. It is not particular about soil types. Plant 2" apart. Prefers full sun.

Can be forced with water deprivation (in pots), then supplied with generous amounts of water.
