According to the authors of "Encyclopedia of Hydrangeas" (2004 - Timber Press), "A shrub up to 3.5' with dark green foliage. The corymbs are relatively small, as are the sepals. The best blue hortensia (hydrangea) we know. Also very suitable as a pot plant. It can be confused with 'Mathilde Gutges'. Enziandom means "Gentian dome." Bred by August Steiniger, Germany , in 1950"

From "Hydrangea's for American Gardens" by Michael A. Dirr: leaves turn dak red to copper in autumn. Sepals overlapping and entire; a favorite among florists and landscapers; mid to late season."
