In "Hydrangeas for American Gardens," by Michael A. Dirr (2004), it says this is a shorter, compact plant 4'x4'. Florets stay partially open instead of flattening and it blooms early to mid-summer. There is a questionmark as to whether this is a lacecap or mophead. Flowers are dark cobalt blue fading to inky purple in acid soil, no color given for alkaline. No hardiness zone rating.
