I have both started them from seed and bought them at Lowe's and they are very successful for me. In fact, mine bloom all year, and are perennials, just like my other Johnny Jump Ups. But, they do get white powder mildew. After about six months, I need to replace them. They will grow under trees, where other annuals won't grow. I have some under my palm tree and in front of my street tree. In San Francisco, they will take full sun.

'Jolly Joker' is a striking pansy due to its unusual bloom colors. While the face and lower petals are a bright orange, the upper petals are rich purple. A touch of purple often repeats at the tip of the lower petals. Pinch back spent blooms to keep this plant compact.
