I grow this cactus indoors - it seems to tolerate direct sunlight as well as filtered light. It's important not to overwater. Container should have a drainage hole. Water only when soil is dry and crusty to the touch. I fertilize monthly with Miracile Grow Bloombooster and am rewarded with profuse blooms. It blooms best when pot-bound,, but only to a certain extent.
