Mine grew more girth in one summer outdoors than it had in several years in a very large pot. Very easy care, very exotic looking xeric plant. Differs from the species in having a smoother, white trunk. A must have to any good collection.

This plant is best grown out of doors in moderate climate. Once its roots are free it will find its way and it sucks up the moisture during growing season. It doesn't like the wet winter, but will survive. It is decidious (huge leaves drop). It produces grapes (don't eat them they are high in tannic acid and not sweet) they may be slightly toxic.

Seed must be prepared, aged and scarified and even then germination is uncertain.
