Herbaceous creeper hugging the ground, or any support; with succulent, pinkish stems and 2-ranked alternate, flattened, thin-fleshy leaves oval when small, with oblique base, lanceolate-pointed to 6 cm long in older plants, brown-purple to blackish with pale green to gray center area; small green flowers. Grown in baskets or on bark. Best in the greenhouse; also a fine groundcover indoors.
