I keep 'Bristol' in a large pot and allow it outdoors only after all frost is long gone! I find the plant to be much more delicate that others like caerula-alata or vitifolia, but it is lovely in bloom. Here in coastal NJ it went into bud mid-winter at an east window, but the buds died. It is in full bloom now (06-24-04) outdoors in dappled partial shade. I use tomato cages in my pots to give these climbers a place to go, since I found that the strings-to-the-curtain-rods system I started with indoors wasn't satisfactory. Once in bloom, it puts on quite a display of pale flowers.
