This is a tolerated weed in Tokyo. The beautiful new leaves of spring and the delightful little flowers give way to a sprawling weedy-looking mess by mid summer. I usually rip most of them out at this stage, knowing there will be hundreds to take their places next year...anywhere moist with shade from direct noontime sun. In winter the larger leaves die back, leaving a small winter rosette.
