River Bottlebrush is a common plant of rocky river beds in south-eastern Australia. In spring it is covered in pale yellow bottlebrush flower-heads, which are rich in nectar and thus very attractive to birds and bees. The seed is held on the shrub for many years in hard woody capsules. If the capsules are picked, they will shed seed in a cou[le of weeks, if kept dry. The seed is minute, but germinates fairly easily. Although naturally growing in wet sites, it thrives in the garden, without being kept especially wet. I have one in my garden, which I grew from seed and it is now nearly 3 metres high flowering beautifully each year
