This is a particularly beautiful Melaleuca, having large rusty-red bottlebrush flower-heads for a long period of the summer. It is particularly attractive to birds and ours is often full of New Holland Honeyeaters. I have two shrubs in my garden and they are large spreading shrubs, only 2 metres tall. They grow easily from seed. In the wild it grows in sandy soils in coastal New South Wales.
