A rather ubiquitous plant in shopping centers throughout northern California, this tree has a rather coarse look as they do not have fine twigs, and form rather thick shoots. They do form rather rugged aged looking trunks in no time, but the plants themselves are somewhat brittle. They can produce a rather dense shade. Plants have escaped cultivation, and are quite tough (I've seen a small shrub of this growing on rocks right at the seashore in Monterey, CA).
