The figs are round, small, starting yellow, turning red as they mature. And because they appear densely on the top of the branches, when the tree is loaded of figs it looks somewhat reddish from a distance. And the figs are delicious
A very interesting tree, can take almost any kind of soil, needs only weekly watering, but requires some attention. The roots are superficial, and they grow as large as the branches, so it´s a good idea to not plant it near pavements, sidewalks, walls, buildings, etc. This is a brazilian species, so it probably won´t happen in other places, but ocasionally it may produce seeds, and they will germinate almost anywhere, including fissures on bridges, buildings, sidewalks, etc., so the new plants should be removed |
