Ficus tomentella

This is an enormous tree. Not as tall as other trees (and even as other Fig Trees), but the tunk and the table roots are massive! This tree does not banyam (at least, not here in Rio de Janeiro), but it sure demands lots of space.

It has fuzzy leaves that are renewed constantly, so the litter is abundant. The figs are not edible nor atractive for us, but birds surely like it. It needs an specific wasp to produce seeds, and this wasp exists only in Brazil, so I guess in other places it can be propagated only be cuttings.

It can get 20m tall, and provides great shade. Plus the visual of the trunk makes this species really ornamental.
