This is a versatile species of Clusia. The natural habitat varies from the rocky cliffs in central Brazil to the sandy plains along the South American Atlantic coast. Can resist extreme heat to light frosts.

It is a shrub that can reach up to 5m tall. This species is thougher than other members of this genus that are used as hedges and are usually pruned. This one hardly can be educated as such.

It has shiny, hard leaves and a dense foliage, with a white sap - keep it away from your eyes, I had problems with it once. The flowers are white, and there are both male and female flowers, with little difference between them.

It needs well drained soil, regular watering, full sun, and the climatic conditions I told above.
