I'm a native of Texas and while I was growing up there was only one plant which I knew to be a "dandelion". And that was the Texas Dandelion, as I found out later on. Guess noone ever told me about the other one that most people call dandelion. But I thought the dandelions I knew about were so pretty! I never thought of it as a weed. And I still allow some in my yard. The other nonnative one I'll pull up, but not usually this one.
