This is one of the more unusual Araucarias with thick, ropey leaves that look more like branches than leaves. It is somewhat similar looking in sillohuete to the Monkey Puzzle tree but a lot more needy of heat (opposite of Monkey Puzzle which can't stand heat). This is a New Caledonia native
