I donīt really know if this plant is native from Brazil, or if it was imported from somewhere else. Fact is that this plant grows spontaneously on clear areas, mostly on the humid mountains of Rio de Janeiro and southern brazilian states.

The ripe berries are soft and sweet, and most flowers produce berries. And, as I see, most seeds generate new plants. Although this is abundant and easy to cultivate under certain conditions, this species isnīt commercially explored.
