Nice looking cycad with silvery-blue leaves in a hot, dryish climate. In really humid climates tends to be a bit greener. The leaflets are very fine and soft for a cycad. A bit touchy with watering and can be fussy here in So Cal- not sure exactly why, but our soils might have too much of this or too little of that for them- definitely don't like our wet, cold winters and clay soil. It's a pretty good climate for them otherwise. They are from the deserts of N Australia where it is dry when it's cool and the soil is extremely well draining and has little or no phosphorous in it. Fires go through these areas frequently and this, along with hundreds of other Cycas species, have adapted to the fires- burns off all their leaves but stimulates new growth and reproduction. Some growers actually burn their plants on purpose to get them to cone.
