An imposing foliage plant from China.

Has large, palmate, deeply toothed, dark green leaves that start out a very dark red. Bears tall spikes of tiny red, pink or white flowers.

Flowers May to July but is more often grown for the impressive leaves.

Loves a well drained but moist soil in light shade although it'll tolerate some sun. May appreciate a heavy mulch in winter.

This isn't grown as an edible Rhubarb, the leaves (if ingested) can cause severe stomach upset.
