I found the rhizomes of this fern the most interesting, especially since the plant was lableled "E.T fern"!! It was a P.formosanum 'cristatum'. Not sure if it was just a sales gimmick or a new cultivar. if anyone has more info, please share.
Old fronds will shrivel and brown in late summer. I cut them off in order to make room for fresh growth which will begin immediately. Hard to overwater in a basket where this subject undoubtedly does best. Rhizomes will begin to shrivel if let dry out too much, but will come back immediately when watered. Avoid full scorching sun. Best in filtered to bright (but still filtered) light. Mine is huge after a number of years and I have found it hard to kill. Most fronds spore bearing. In my experience this is an easy fern.

NOT an easy to grow fern. It has a dormant period that occurs seemingly sporadic. I know some have had great success at keeping it growing, but overall not a sure thing.
A challenge.
