This is one of the nicer looking 'hairy', branching Dypsis species having wider leaves (at least as a seedling) than the other hairy species. All these in this group have new burgundy to maroon leaves that retain their color for 2-3 weeks. This one seems to be the most cold hardy of the group. I have had one in the ground for 8 years and it's tolerated temps down into the high 20s for a brief period.
