Small perennial from the Himalayas.

Forms tiny rosettes of ovate, deep green, tough leaves. Bears rose/mauve coloured flowers with a bright yellow eye that darkens to red with age. flowers are borne on short stems arising from the centre of each rosette of leaves.

Flowers mainly April to May, but may flower at any time in the spring depending on conditions.

Requires a very well drained, neutral to alkaline soil in a sunny position. Not ideally suited to growing outside where the rainfall is high but doesn't like to the soil dry out completely as we found the other day, each rosette was curled up in a small ball in protest!
