This bamboo has wonderful mottled dark culms about 3" thick and very straight. It makes a great forest if left to grow uncontrolled with culms spaced far enough apart you can walk through most areas. Grows up to 50' tall, but rarely that tall in Southern California (more like 25-30'). PRetty invasive, though
