This beautiful tree comes from the Caribean area, Florida, Mexico and Central America. This is a medium sized tree, with pendant branches. The tallest individuals I know are around 15 meters tall.

The leaves are shiny on the upper page, and covered with brown hairs on the lower page, making it look kinda bronze, or golden if seen from below ("Chrysophyllum" means "Golden Leaf", name given because of that). The flowers are small, white, cup shaped, in axilar fascicles on the end of the branches. Fruits are fleshy, and eaten by birds.

This plant needs full sun, regular watering, high temperatures, and fertile soil.

With pretty foliage and great shade, this is an endangered species on its natural habitat. In Florida, it is considered threatened.
