The SwordLeaf Plantain grows widely throughout the west in yards and roadsides. The crushed leaves, when added to a little water is a valuable healing herb - use on severely dry cracked open skin. I read this in a Native American Healing book, and the same night it closed up deep open cracks on most of my fingers - an irritant-type dermatitis - that several dermatologists failed to fix. Turns skin temporarily green, so use in the evening and overnight - and have healthy skin tomorrow!

I grow this in the greenhouse and outside-it's a very usefull plant-can be eaten as a green, cooked- or the young leaves in salad-it is good for the stomach and neutralizes stomach acid--I use it as a tea for clearing head and bronchial mucus--it has been used by our people to stop hemorrhaging, by puting brused or chewed leaves on the bleeding surface.
