The flowers of this species are White. The pink and darker pink flowered plants are of a different variety of G. mihanovichii or of Gymnocalycium stenopleurum.

This is the original, non-grafted form of this plant- a nice looking but albeit not as interestingly colored (the coloration is also linked to inability to feed itself) as the bizzare grafted forms. Plant is one of the easiest Gymnos to grow, though it can sometimes look dehydrated with the prominent and sometimes thin ribs. This plant can have a wide range of colors from deep, dark green, to bright orange, red, yellow, grey... all deepending on soil, sun, heat and individual characteristics. Flowers are pinkisht to pale white and this plant can repeatedly flower from early spring to late summer, with one plant making as many as 20-30 flowers over that period... very prolific plant! Easy to find and cheap- often for sale at Home Garden centers all over the US. Not sure how it performs as an indoor plant, but wouldn't be surprised if it did quite well. Handles nearly full shade as well as blazing hot sun here in Southern California.
