This ferns' fronds are a lighter green beneath and dark green above and have 4-14 pairs of pinnae with rounded tips. The fronds get anywhere from 4" to 14" tall and 1.75" wide. It grows in conifer forests and in canyons on moist slopes at about 7000-9000 ft. elevation. The scaling rhizomes creep. In Arizona it can be found at Woods Canyon Lake, amongst other places.
