I have been growing this plant for almost 25 years - a fantastic caudiciform. I cut back the annual vines when frost threatens, bring it inside, and cut watering back to a bare minimum until new growth starts in early April, which is about the date of last frost in my area. I then let it spend the summer on my front porch, where it sends its vines up the posts that support my porch roof.
